This section shows part of the process of redesigning the
Boston Phoenix. This alternative newsweekly belongs to The
Phoenix/Media Communications Group, a family-run company thant
owns various types of media —from radio stations to new cellular
phone technologies— in all of New England. The Boston Phoenix
was started in 1966 as a four-page insert and today is one
of the most prominent and respected publications of its kind
in the US. Presently the Phoenix has 3 editions —Boston, Portland
and Providence— a Pulitzer Prize-winning brand-name with an
average weekly distribution of 253,000 copies.
In March of 2005 the Phoenix hired us to do their redesign,
after some discussion about what direction and
form it should take.
